Is that Jenson Button running around the streets of Athy?
Prepare to feel inadequate as the star attraction at tomorrow’s Bavaria City Racing in Dublin is spending today doing an Olympic Triathlon in Athy.
Maybe we have watched too many old Steve McQueen movies but we kind of assumed that Formula 1 drivers spent all their free time drinking champagne and hanging out with supermodels.
We knew they were fit, you would have to be to spend two hours driving around at 200mph in what is essentially a plane that is glued to the ground with technology, but we didn’t think they were this fit.
Jenson Button is in Ireland to take part in Bavaria City Racing around the streets of Dublin tomorrow and we thought he might spend today just playing some golf or even having a nice quiet pint of something somewhere.
But no. The McLaren man is a big fan of triathlons and it just so happens there was one taking place in Kildare today, in Athy to be precise. So the bold Jenson signed up to take part.
If you don’t believe us, here’s a picture of him getting ready for the race this morning, tweeted out by @tri_ireland.

So while you were probably sleeping, Jenson swam 1.5km, cycled 40kms and then ran 10kms. Yep, we feel bad too.
We don't know how Jenson did yet but as soon as we know we will update the story.
Update: True as our word we're back with the news that Button finished second in his category, with a time of 2 hours, 4.58 minutes, good enough for seventh overall. Thanks to @PJWard14 for the update and this picture of Jenson in action. See you tomorrow Jenson when you will have an engine to help you.
