Reasons to attend Bavaria City Racing, Part 16: Spyker squadron

29/05/2012 4:05 pm

Not only do the Spyker squadron have an ultra-cool name, they’ll be bringing an ultra-cool car along to Dublin this weekend.

Jenson Button and his McLaren Formula One car, the Caterham F1 team, drifter cars, touring cars, superbikes, high-speed buggies and a hell of a lot of lovely babes will all be in attendance and the Spyker squadron are a worthy addition to the stellar cast descending on the capital this weekend.

The name Spyker carries a fair bit of weight in motoring circles so aficionados, and even those with a passing interest in cars, are probably already familiar with models such as the Spyker Aileron and the Spyker La Turbie.

The car the Spyker squadron will be bringing to Dublin next month is equally as familiar as it is one that has competed in the Le Mans 24 hour and Le Mans Series races.

If the Spyker can get through racing for an entire day in the most gruelling event in motorsport, then a few hours on the streets of Dublin is bound to be a doddle and the hundreds of thousands of fans expected to attend won’t be disappointed.

As you can see from the picture above, the car is a bit of a beaut to look at and she packs a fair bit of oomph under the trunk as well. With a 4.2 litre V8 engine, she’s well able to move and is capable of reaching speeds of nearly 200 miles per hour and the home crowds can look forward to seeing it whizz past them at full tilt this weekend.

We can’t wait.

Bavaria City Racing comes to Dublin on June 3. The event is FREE to attend, but fans who want to get that bit closer to the action can avail of tickets to the premium performance zones.
