After yesterday’s events, Europe need inspiration to claw their way back into the Ryder Cup battle and there was some to be found in the skies overhead at Medinah today.

With his fellow Spaniard and great friend Jose Maria Olazabal leading the European troops in Medinah, the late Seve Ballesteros was always going to figure prominently this week.

You may have already seen the image of Seve that features on all of the European golf bags and today he was recalled in an inspirational message in the clouds for Rory, Graeme and the rest of the European lads.

As well as being a great competitor individually, Ballesteros used to come alive during the Ryder Cup and if the European players can channel some of that spirit today they’ll be well on the comeback trail.
