Pic of the Day: Has Iron Man been flying around Australia?

Something strange was snapped in Perth, Australia overnight. Meteor or something else?

A very strange site was pictured in the sky over Australia yesterday and nobody is sure what it is yet.

The below picture, taken by local journalist Pip Moir and posted on her Twitter account @pipmoir shows a fiery trail on the horizon. According to reports, the fiery phenomenon took 20 minutes to disappear but now the speculation turns to what it was.

The Australian Bureau of Meteorology said that a fast-moving item like a meteor would not be picked up by their radar and that remains the most likely solution to this puzzle, though there is already lots of speculation online that it's a U.F.O. crash.

Of course, we think it looks like one of Tony Stark’s test flights but maybe we have seen one too many Iron Man movies. Suggestions from around the office that it is Charlie Adam's penalty from the Carling Cup final eventually returning to earth are both hilarious and wrong too.

Any suggestions? Let us know below.
