While we hope to have two more fights to enjoy, Katie’s Taylor’s first Olympic bout was pretty special and the Bray boxer enjoyed it too.

While we all knew that Katie Taylor should have beaten Natasha Jonas today, you can never be sure in boxing, a sport where one punch, or a dodgy judge or two, can turn dreams to dust.

In the end it was easy, 26-15, and Taylor’s British opponent took two standing counts as the powerful punches honed in Bray did their worst to the Liverpudlian.

After the fight Taylor was on her way out of the ring when she paused, just for a second, to enjoy the moment and celebrate her struggle to get there and what she had achieved. For the usually reserved fighter it was a fantastic show of emotion.

Thankfully it was captured by Dan Sheridan at INPHO. Let’s hope we have a couple more of these snap in the next week.
