The best licence plate for an Irish ambulance ever

26/09/2012 7:32 am

We don’t know if this is just a coincidence or if somebody in the licensing department has a sense of humour. Either way we like it.

Spotted at Limerick Racecourse by Shane Gubbins, this Limerick registered ambulance has the best possible licence plate.

Is this a phenomenon unique to Limerick or does every county have a similar scheme going on? Paramedics and ambulance drivers of Ireland, please let us know.

These are refered to as "vanity" plates and according to the vehicle licence office in Cork it costs €1000 to reserve a number. Limerick City Council, discontinued the practice of reserving a number for the mayors car, as a cost cutting exercise. Obviously, the HSE can well aford it.
