JOE's 5 for the Weekend
This weekend's action includes The Expendables 2, Tipperary and Kilkenny battle it out in the All Ireland Senior hurling semi-final and our Cult Classic film Three Kings.
Enjoy a tribute to Luke Kelly at The Silver Granite
There’s nothing like a bit of trad to remind you there’s more to enjoying a night out than to have the ears blasted off you by a DJ. The ‘Legend of Luke Kelly’ comes to The Silver Granite this Saturday and best of all, there’s no cover charge. Other venues charge €15 in at the door for this excellent tribute act, but that’s not happening tonight down in the Granite. Doors open at 10pm so get in early for a good seat.
Have your ribs tickled at the International Comedy Club
If you’re looking for something to do this weekend that doesn’t take itself too seriously, then you might want to head along to the International Bar on Wicklow Street to check out the best local and international comedians. Doors to the International Comedy Club open on Saturday night at 9pm and tickets cost between €8 and €10. If you’re heading out in search of a laugh on Sunday night then doors to International Comedy Club open at 8.30pm and tickets cost just €5. Can’t go wrong at that price.
Watch Tipperary and Kilkenny battle it out in the SHC semi-final
This weekend will see Tipperary and Kilkenny battle it out for a place in the All Ireland Senior Hurling final. Sunday’s game throws in at 3.30pm. If you’re watching over on RTÉ then your coverage will be brought to you by Michael Lyster, Cyril Farrell, Ger Loughnane and Tomas Mulcahy. The winner of this match will go on to face Galway in the final. This will be an important match for both teams so make sure to tune in.
Get your OAP on with the Expendables 2
There’s nothing better than watching your favourite childhood action starts doing what they do best. Sdaly, all your childhood action stars are probably all old and wrinkly, but that hasn’t stopped a star-studded cast lining out for The Expendables 2. Names like Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Jet Li, Chuck Norris, Bruce Willis, Arnold Schwarzenegger and even Randy Couture all make an appearance in the sequel to the 2010 hit The Expendables. It opens in Irish cinemas today, Friday 17.

Relive a classic movie with our Cult Film of the Week
This week’s Cult Classic film is Three Kings. It follows the story of some US Marines fighting against the Iraqi’s in Desert Storm. It’s their mission to find the Kuwaiti gold, which Saddam stole for himself. It’s a great movie that has laughs, frights and some tear jerker moments.
If you haven’t already, we’d certainly advise you to make your way over to the Jameson Cult Film Club website to check out what the folks over there also recommend.
