Tonight's TV: Republic of telly, MNS and The Good Thief
Monday night sees the second last installment of Monday Night Soccer, Republic of Telly is on for an hour special and Neil Jordan’s The Good Thief is on TG4.
Main Event: Republic of Telly, 10pm, RTE 2
Tonight's viewers are in for an hour’s treat as Dermot Whelan is in his usual humour, Jennifer Maguire emigrates to the Sates while Bernard O’Shea gets his own chat show. The usual regulars of Dead Cat Bounce, Damo and Ivor, Darby the Leprechaun and the new Republic of Phonebooth will all be appearing.
Sporting Pick: MNS, RTE 2, 7pm
Peter Collins presents all the action in what was the second last weekend of the Airtricity League. Gary Twigg had an emotional night in his last game in front of the Shamrock Rovers supporters, champions Sligo travelled to Drogheda, Bray entertained Bohs at the Carlisle Grounds, Cork City had their final home game against Dundalk while St. Pats made the trip to the Brandywell. Colm Foley, Pete Mahon and Stuart Byrne discuss the latest results and news in studio.
Movie Pick: The Good Thief, TG4, 9.30pm
Neil Jordan’s remake of the French crime thriller Bob le Flambeur is well worth a look. The story centres on a heroin-addicted gambler – some guys just have all the luck – as he hatches an ambitious plan to steal a casino’s priceless art collection.
He must however come up with a cunning strategy to outwit his tenacious arch-enemy. Stars Nick Nolte, Tcheky Karyo and Ralph Fiennes.
