One of the most famous pieces in the history of photography was re-enacted in Galway yesterday (above) ahead of the screening of an Irish language documentary about it.
Titled “Lunch atop a Skyscraper”, the original photograph was taken in 1932 during construction of the RCA Building at the Rockefeller Center in New York.
The re-enactment was photographed at Eyre Square as part of the Galway Film Fleadh, at which the documentary “Lón sa Spéir” (or “Lunch in the Sky” for any amadáns out there) is being screened this week.
The TG4 production is expected to be shown on the Irish language channel later in the year.
And just as a reminder, here's the original from the Bettman Archive as taken by Charles C. Ebbets.
