Real Madrid star and possibly the best footballer in the world Cristiano Ronaldo has revealed himself to be a huge fan of the most well-known GAA show around, The Sunday Game. Well, kind of.
The show has been a staple of Irish summer Sunday evenings for generations and has no doubt attracted a few celebrity fans over the years, but few would have thought that a man like Cristiano Ronaldo would have an interest in the cut and thrust of the Gaelic Football and hurling championships.
That was until he revealed himself to be a fan of the show on his Twitter page this afternoon while commenting on Real Madrid’s comprehensive Champions League victory over Ajax last night, which Ronaldo himself marked with a hat-trick.

Cristiano must be catching up on the Sky Plus recording of last Sunday’s show because The Sunday Game has finished broadcasting for the summer, although there will be a highlights programme covering the Ladies’ Football Final between Cork and Kerry on Sunday evening.
It will unfortunately be going out around the same time that Ronaldo will be in the Camp Nou trying to get one over Barcelona in the latest edition of El Clasico, but we're sure he can catch up with it afterwards.
Most of you who follow Ronaldo will know that he probably doesn't write his own tweets and yes, we know that he was on about El Clasico and not the GAA highlights show, but we thought the potential misinterpretation might strike a chord with Ronaldo’s Irish followers.
Besides, any excuse to hear THAT theme tune again...
