This morning we learned that Welsh singer Duffy escaped a fire in the block of flats where she lives. We also learned that her flat is worth £12 million. Yes, a flat worth £12 million.
The 28-year old, who, ironically, has a song called ‘Smoke Without Fire’, was seen frantically running around and calling after her cat during the blaze in Kensington in London, but thankfully there was nobody seriously injured.
With everyone’s safety accounted for, the next burning question – pardon the pun – on everyone’s lips, including Liverpool Post columnist Gary Bainbridge, was how the hell is one flat worth £12 million, or €15 million in our money?

Apparently, the 6,000 square foot loft apartment includes a swimming pool and a cinema so that goes some way to explaining its value and considering that Kensington is a fairly swanky area in London, that’s also bound to add a little extra to the asking price.
Still £12 million is a fairly hefty price to pay to put a roof over one's head. It's probably a good thing she's only renting the place.
