Main Event: Championship Matters, RTE Two, 8.30pm

As soon as the summer starts, GAA fans simply can’t get enough programmes discussing the latest events from the hurling and football championships and with that in mind, the return of Championship Matters is a welcome one indeed.

With the ever reliable Marty Morrissey and his pencil thin eyebrows at the helm, Championship Matters won’t quite reach the cult status of The Sunday Game over the summer months, but it will be essential viewing for those who are serious about all things Gah.

Sporting Pick: Live PGA Tour Golf, Sky Sports Three, 7.30pm

Golf from Dublin, you say? Yes it’s golf from Dublin alright, but golf from Dublin, Ohio, where the Memorial Tournament will get underway at Muirfield Village Golf Club. Tiger Woods will be looking to defend his title in what is a very strong field, while Rory McIlroy will be looking to recover from a bit of a mare at Wentworth last week.

Movie Pick: Forrest Gump, Film Four, 9pm

In arguably his greatest role, Tom Hanks stars as a simple-minded, unassuming chap whose amazing life story is told through the prism of the major historical events in the US from the 1950s to the 1980s.

With a great supporting cast and a belter of a soundtrack, Forrest Gump is an all-time classic and never gets old.
