Movie Pick: Righteous Kill, TV3, 9pm
Two veteran New York detectives are assigned the case of a murdered pimp. They quickly realise they are dealing with a vigilante who is dishing out lethal punishment to those who have escaped the justice system. As more dead criminals pile up on the streets like dirty nappies, they suspect the killer may be a fellow cop, but how far are they willing to go to find out? Crime thriller, starring Robert De Niro, Al Pacino, Carla Gugino, John Leguizamo and Donnie Wahlberg – so a fairly descent cast we think you’ll agree.
Other TV: A Dad is Born, BBC2, 9pm
We don’t do a lot on ‘new father stuff’ here on JOE, but for those of you who are going to shell out nearly €500,000 over the next 18-years then check out the documentary ‘A Dad is Born’. It’s a Wonderland Film by the Award-winning film-maker Kira Phillips. The documentary follows the experiences of three men in the weeks before and after they become fathers. City HR worker Jamie tries to get ready for the big day by reading self-help guides, minicab driver Viktor is determined to put his womanising days behind him and become the perfect family man, while multi-millionaire trader Greg sees his girlfriend’s pregnancy as a second chance to make up for past mistakes. Sounds like it could be some pretty interesting viewing for those of us who did (and didn’t) get off at Sidney Parade.
