May the fourth be with you: a few reasons why we love Star Wars

May the fourth means that it's time to cast our mind back and think about the brilliance of Star Wars

Today is May the fourth, so we should all be watching Star Wars, of course. Obviously, all the lads in JOE towers love the three movies (that's right, we said it, there's only three) but if you haven't watched them yet, you should get on it!

Now, we could sit here for days and talk about what makes the trilogy so great and why the films themselves are almost perfect, but here's just a few random reasons why it's one of the best trilogies that was ever made.

Darth Vader

The guy's a badass, no two ways about it, he controlled an space station that was able to destroy whole planets and he choked all his problems away. That's pretty cool.

It's a huge part of popular culture

Spaced, Family Guy, American Dad, and The Simpsons are just some of the things that regularly reference the Simpsons, but there are also a load of brilliant parody Twitter accounts, memes, jokes and countless other things that you need to love Star Wars to understand.

Shadows of the Empire

One of the best and most underrated games on the Nintendo 64, Shadows of the Empire was truly class, and was a favourite of JOE back in the day. Still the best Star Wars game, and no one can convince us otherwise.

THAT Golden Bikini from Return of the Jedi

Two reasons why we love this, firstly the original with Princess Leia, and secondly, the list of beautiful women that have put it on since, from Jennifer Aniston, to Kristen Bell and Kelly Brook.

The opening with the scrolling text

Not only is the soundtrack totally iconic, but this opening gives us a tingle down our spine every time that first note hits.

So there you have it, there's no better way than spending this great holiday with your loved ones by sitting down and working your way through the trilogy. And don't forget, tomorow is the Revenge of the Fifth!
