Lindsay Lohan sentenced to jail
Wild-child actress Lindsay Lohan yesterday broke down in tears after being sentenced to 90 days in jail after violating her probation.
The Mean Girls star, who painted the message "F**k U" on her left middle finger, is set to begin her sentence on July 20, and must also serve 90 days as an in-patient on a substance abuse rehab programme upon her release.
In 2007, Lohan pleaded guilty two counts of being under the influence of cocaine and no contest to DUI (Driving under the influence) charges.
During yesterday’s hearing the troubled star claimed she had failed to attend her alcohol education classes due to her hectic work schedule, stating: ‘I was taking it seriously. I wasn’t expecting any special treatment.’
‘I’m not taking this as a joke. It’s my life and my career, something I have worked for my entire life.’
The Beverly Hills court heard that Lohan had failed to attend the course at least nine times since October 16.
The actress served 84 minutes of a 24-hour sentence at the Century Regional Detention Facility in Lynwood, California the same year, and must now surrender herself to the same facility. In May of this year, Lohan also failed to attend a probation hearing and was forced to fit an alcohol-monitoring bracelet.
