Mad Men moving from BBC to Sky after "blockbuster bid"
After four season on BBC, Emmy award-winning show Mad Men is moving to Sky – with rumours that the corporation are planning a drama-only channel to facilitate the period series.
One of JOE’s favourite US exports, Mad Men is set in a 1960s New York ad agency and boasts the effortless cool and style of series protagonist Don Draper, portrayed with aplomb by rising star Jon Hamm.
Sky have outbidded BBC for the right to the future fifth and sixth season rights, after making what sources claim a “blockbuster bid†for the drama. Sky are now thought to be readying a new drama channel in the new year, with Mad Men and HBO’s Boardwalk Empire believed to be the chief selling points for the service.
Season 4 of Mad Men is currently showing Tuesday nights on BBC 2 and is expected to return to RTE 2 screens later in the year.
