Jerry Nelson, the puppeteer behind the beloved Count von Count character on Sesame Street, has died aged 78.
The phrase ‘One, ha, ha, ha... two, ha, ha, ha... (and so on) will be known to millions of people of a certain generation worldwide, including Irish people, as the voice of Count von Count, one of the most well known characters on the enormously popular children’s television show Sesame Street.
Sadly for fans of the show, however, the puppeteer behind the Count passed away at his home in Cape Cod yesterday aged 78, having been in declining health for some time.
As well as the Count, Nelson was behind other Muppets characters such as Sherlock Hemlock, Herry Monster and the Amazing Mumford and Gobo Fraggle on Fraggle Rock.
He will be best remembered for his role as Count von Count and if you fancy a little trip down memory lane, have a look at him directing our own Liam Neeson in a classic episode a few years back.
