The website for the Irish Hospice Foundation crashed last night after Posh Spice herself, Victoria Beckham, tweeted a link to the charity.

The Irish Independent reports that Victoria made the tweet after Bono sent her a gift for her daughter Harper. Bono sent her on a copy of the book he did in aid of the charity in 2003 – because he just wouldn’t be Bono if he didn’t manage to get some shameless self-promotion in there somewhere.

Mrs Becks tweeted: “Thanks Bono and Ali for Haper’s supercool Peter and the Wolf Book!” She then gave a link to the book cover and tweeted the link to the Irish Hospice foundation.

The charity’s website was immediately inundated with a massive volume of traffic as some of Victoria’s 2.5million Twitter followers visited the charity’s site to see what she was talking about.

“The site went down from the number of people who were trying to get on and buy the book,” says Caroline Lynch from the charity.

Nobody tell Bono or there’ll be no living with him. His ego is already too big.

It’s amazing what a simple tweet from Victoria Beckham can do for business.
