Niall Horan’s legion of female fans probably thought that he could no wrong; certainly they would never have expected to be called a “shower of c**ts” by the man himself.

That’s what the One Direction singer had to say, or was alleged to have said, to a group of fawning girls who were anxiously awaiting his arrival at Dublin Airport earlier this week and although it seems quite clear that he didn’t mean any offence, surely a media savvy bloke like Niall should have known that such a caustic clip would go viral within hours.

And, inevitably, that’s exactly what happened. Since being uploaded to YouTube yesterday, the clip has already garnered close to 50,000 views and with Niall’s rant the main story on the front pages of the Irish Sun and the Irish Daily Mirror this morning, it would be no surprise if that figure is closer to 500,000 by the end of the day.

We’re not sure what had got Niall’s goat, but walking through arrivals, he allegedly barked at a shower of female fans: “Remember the last time I walked down through here, you shower of c**ts,” before obliging a request to say happy birthday to a friend of one of the group who had been subjected to Horan’s verbal volley.

It's hard to make out what exactly he says after "shower of" in the video above, but reports in both papers, as well as comments under the video posted on YouTube, suggest that it was "shower of c**ts".

Publicist Simon Horan told the Irish Sun that Horan's comments were "clearly a joke" and we're inclined to believe him, but at the same time we're not sure everyone will react in a similar fashion.

One of the female fans responded to being part of said “shower of c**ts” quite well, saying on the related post on YouTube that Horan’s rant was purely meant “as banter”, surely proof that the Mullingar man can do no wrong in the eyes of some of his besotted fans.

Check out Horan’s explicit rant in the video above, although any teenage girls watching should be warned that you may never look on the not so nice Niall in the same light again.
