Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds will join the Red Hot Chili Peppers for what promises to be a mammoth gig in Croke Park next summer.
On the face of it, the musical styles of both acts doesn’t exactly seem compatible, but given their massive fanbases, tickets will no doubt sell like hotcakes for the concert at GAA headquarters on 26 June next year.
The Chilis have sold out stadiums in Ireland for many a year, but Gallagher has been a stranger to the big arenas ever since the much-publicised Oasis spilt in 2009.
Obviously mad for the buzz of the big crowds once again, Gallagher is set to tour big venues in the England such as the MEN Arena in Manchester and the Liverpool Echo Arena early next year, while he is also set to play before Bruce Springsteen at the Isle of Wight Festival next June.
How he'll like playing second fiddle to a band that are probably past their sell-by date remains to be seen, but as long as little brother Liam isn't in sight, it should all go off without a hitch.
