Saturday Night Warm-Up Tracks: Echo Lake, Muse and Spies

06/10/2012 5:00 pm

It’s Saturday, so it’s time to let your hair down and we’re here to provide the soundtrack, well at least some of it, with JOE’s Saturday Warm Up tracks.

By Peter Cooney

Echo Lake – ‘In Dreams’

Kicking off this week’s playlist are Londoners Echo Lake with ‘In Dreams’. The track is from their debut album ‘Wild Peace’, released earlier this year, which garnered much attention and glowing reviews.

You can catch Echo Lake on Wednesday as they perform in Dublin’s Workmans club. Tickets are still available and support on the night is from the ever excellent Adultrock.

Muse – ‘Time is Running Out’

With the release of ‘The 2nd Law’, we think it’s time to remind ourselves of Muse’s finer moments, so back to 2003 we go.

‘Time is Running Out’ was the lead single off ‘Absolution’ and was the band’s first top 10 hit, a sign of things to come. ‘Absolution’ also went to the top of the charts, becoming the first Muse album to do so.

So if you’re listening to ‘The 2nd Law’ and scratching your head, we recommend you turn this track up and get out all the old Muse records.

Spies – ‘Covered in the Times’

Spies have been making a name for themsleves since the release of their debut EP ‘Liars Call Me King’ in 2010. The Dublin band’s work on ‘Liars...’ was rewarded with much critical plaudits and received extensive radio play across the country.

Spies released the single ‘Barricade’ in April which, again, was met with fine reviews. Not only is it a great track, but you can download it for free right here.
