Opera can be a very expressive genre, but sweet Jesus this lady’s performance is as terrifying as it is impressive.
To reach the vocal heights that they reach, opera singers often have to do a fair bit of gesticulating and adopt some rather odd facial gestures, but we don’t think we’ve seen anyone as into her craft as Italian singer Cecilia Bartoli during this performance.
It’s been on YouTube for over a year so it’s not exactly a recent clip, but thanks to the folks at The Poke we only came across it today and although impressed by her range and vocal abilities, we had to cover our eyes a few seconds in so terrified were we by Cecilia’s rather enthusiastic facial movements.
Check it out for yourself in the video above but don’t say we didn’t warn you if you run away from your computer screaming afterwards.
Hat-tip to the folks at The Poke for their help with this one.
