Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson set to star in new HBO sitcom

The former WWE superstar, The Rock, will be making an appearance on the small screen as he gets set to star in a new HBO sitcom.

If you think The Rock is as much of a legend as we do, then this will surely come as some welcome news... According to reports from The Hollywood Reporter, HBO has announced that a new pilot is in development which will star Johnson and will be produced by none other than Mark Wahlberg.

Wahlberg’s Entourage producing partner, Stephen Levinson, will also be producing and writing the script for the pilot, so if that’s anything to go by, it should be a seriously good show.

But what is it all about? Well, the new show is being billed as a half-hour ‘dramedy’ following "active and retired athletes living in Miami."

Battleship director, Peter Berg, has the honour of directing the pilot, which doesn’t have a working title yet. There’s no word as to when it will finally hit the air, but we’ll be keeping an eye out for it over the next few months.
