Ireland’s biggest television star of 2012 is set to join the IRA, but before Love/Hate fans question the motives of Nidge, it is for a different show with the BBC.
By Declan Whooley
Nidge spent the last series of the hugely successful Love/Hate on the run from the IRA, but actor Tom Vaughan-Lawlor has revealed that he will join the Republican group for an upcoming BBC series that also stars Cillian Murphy.
Set in the slums of Birmingham in 1919, ‘Peaky Blinders’ will feature returning WWI soldiers smuggling back weapons as they plot a revolution. It was shot in the UK last year and is expected to air sometime in the autumn.
The actor is delighted with the success of the show and says that his wife thinks it would be a hit in the UK too.
“My wife is English and she's constantly saying to me this ('Love/Hate') deserves to be shown internationally, that the standard is so high, it should be shown in Britain,” he said in today’s Irish Independent.
He also revealed he has no idea what will happen his character in the upcoming series. We will have to wait with bated breath.
