Monday's TV: Undercover Boss and Life
Tonight on Undercover Boss, a Paddy Power employer meets a team that has experienced several robberies, while the hit-and-miss Eddie Murphy has a hit in Life.
Main Event: Undercover Boss, Channel 4, 9pm
A very interesting episode tonight purely due to its Irish-interest angle. Company director William Reeve works on the shop floor of Irish bookmaker and gaming business Paddy Power. While undercover, he encounters shocking attitudes among some of his staff and meets a team that has experienced several armed robberies, as well as a customer services agent who has to deal with racial abuse and suicide threats
Sport Pick: Sport Pick: Newcastle United v Monaco, ESPN, 6pm
Yes, it's time for televised pre-season friendlies already as Newcastle take on the newly-rich side Monaco, who were taken over by an oligarch during last season. The friendly fixture takes place in Landsberg am Lech, Germany.
Movie Pick: Life, BBC1, 11.35pm
Two men receive life sentences for a crime they did not commit. Once behind bars, their situation becomes even more dire when they discover petty differences can easily be magnified into reasons for all-out war.
A touching comedy, starring Eddie Murphy, Martin Lawrence, Ned Beatty, Rick James, Bernie Mac, Bokeem Woodbine and Obba Babatunde
UPC On Demand Pick: 21 Jump Street
There aren't many options on terrestrial TV tonight, so we recommend you try out UPC's new On Demand service if you want to continue watching top class entertainment, as the service includes the RTE Player, 3Player and a host of boxsets and other shows, free to all UPC customers.
"Another TV remake?" groaned plenty of cinemagoers before the release of 21 Jump Street yet the Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill-starring comedy has been one of the surprises of the year at the box office.
Having reviewed the film upon its cinema release, we gave it four-and-a-half stars and said: "It's a rare example of directors, screenwriters and cast all combining for the perfect vehicle to serve their skills and really shouldn't be missed." You can read our original review here.
