Fair City seems to have developed a penchant for lesbian kissing scenes over the last few years - then again, they could just be trying to reflect society, who knows? Either way, they're at it again.

The Laura Halpin character, who's been unlucky in love since she came back to Fair City, has finally found a woman and lips are about to be locked.

A Fair City 'insider' told the Irish Daily Mirror: "Emily and Laura have had a kind of a spark between them and things will be brought to a head in tonight's episode."

The pair go for coffee together and let their true feelings be known with a kiss. It's a building romance, but there are problems in the pipeline."

The Dublin soap is no stranger to lesbian kissing scenes, though. Another character turned lesbian a couple of years ago and caused a stir with the show's first lesbian kissing scene - several years after its first gay kiss.

One of the actresses involved tonight, Eimear Morrissey,  put it best when she said: "It shouldn't matter whether it's two guys, two girls or a guy and a girl getting together - it's a reflection of Ireland today."
