Tonight's TV: Funny Fortnight, Helsingborgs v Celtic, Lord of War

21/08/2012 7:30 am

Tonight's TV features Them From That Thing, Helsingborgs v Celtic and Lord of War. We also take a look at Disney's John Carter.

Main Event: Them From That Thing, Channel 4, 10pm

Them from That Thing Part is a two-part sketch show set in an exaggerated version of the modern world where serious people do fairly ridiculous things. Featuring a selection of British stars who first made their names on Channel 4 comedy series, including Kayvan Novak (Fonejacker, Four Lions), Sally Phillips (Smack the Pony), Blake Harrison (The Inbetweeners) and Morgana Robinson (Very Important People), as well as some of Britain's leading dramatic actors, including Simon Callow, Bill Patterson, Sean Gilder, Ewen Bremner and Denis Lawson. Part two can be seen tomorrow at 10pm if you’re interested. It’s all a part of Channel 4’s ‘Funny Fortnight’ so it should keep you entertained.

Sporting Pick: Helsingborgs v Celtic, TV3, 7.30pm

Helsingborg v Celtic, kick-off starts at 7.45pm. Brian Kerr joins Tommy Martin to present coverage of the first-leg match in the play-off round, which is held at the Olympic Stadium in Sweden. The winners of this two-legged affair will progress to the group stage of the competition, so both will be looking to perform well in this contest and claim a positive result for the return leg at Celtic Park next week. Your commentary for the evening will be brought to you by Trevor Welch and Lou Macari.

Movie Pick: Lord Of War, BBC1, 11.35pm

A Ukrainian immigrant in New York sells guns to local mobsters – whatever floats your boat - and when he gains access to a vast supply of Soviet weaponry at the end of the Cold War he expands his operation overseas - but makes the mistake of doing business with an African warlord. Thriller, starring Nicolas Cage, Ethan Hawke, Jared Leto, Bridget Moynahan, Eamonn Walker and Ian Holm.
