Tonight's TV: Happy Gilmore, Masters Tennis, Stalked

08/08/2012 9:20 am

Today you can throw the feet up and watch the hilarious Happy Gilmore, the Masters Tennis or a documentary called Stalked.

Main Event: Stalked, TV3, 9pm

Stalked: To Death is a two-part documentary exploring the origins of stalking and its effect on the modern culture of ‘Celebrities’. Dr Bran Nicol explains the history and development of this obsessive behaviour and uses famous examples such as the death of John Lennon, as well as cases involving Louis Walsh, Jill Dando and Michael Flatley. It’s a strange occurrence that not to many know about – apart from those who have been stalked themselves. Seriously, it’s well worth a watch. If you miss it you can always catch it on UPC’s On Demand service thanks to the 3Player.

Sporting Pick: Masters Tennis, Sky Sports 2, 4pm

Why not check out the tennis as the Rogers Cup coverage of day three from the Rexall Centre in Toronto kicks off today from 4pm. Second seed Rafael Nadal suffered a shock defeat at this stage last year to Ivan Dodig, cruising in the opening set, but then losing two tie-breakers to exit the competition. However, Novak Djokovic had no such problems as he overcame Nikolay Davydenko (surprisingly similar looking names) in straight sets and eventually went on to win the competition.

Movie Pick: Happy Gilmore, ITV2, 10.45pm

A second-rate ice-hockey player with a thuggish temperament discovers he has a one heck of a golf swing. He decides to enter various prestigious tournaments in order to raise enough money to save his debt-ridden grandmother's house from falling into the hands of the tax man. Comedy, with Adam Sandler, Christopher McDonald, Carl Weathers, Julie Bowen and Frances Bay.

On-Demand Pick: Tintin

Today’s UPC On-Demand pick is the movie Tintin. So if you don’t like tennis, golf, or the idea of watching someone being stalked then check out UPC's new On Demand service, which is crammed with full with various TV series and movies. But what else is included in On-Demand? Well, the service includes the RTÉ Player, 3Player and a host of boxsets and other TV shows, free to all UPC customers. So don’t forget to check out Tintin on the On-Demand service.
