Tuesday’s TV: Wimbledon continues and the latest from New Girl
Today it’s day two of Wimbledon, while we advise staying in later on just to stare at the beauty that is Zooey Deschanel.

Sue Barker introduces live coverage from the show courts at the All England Club, where the first-round singles matches continue on day two. The stage is set on Centre Court for last year’s champion Petra Kvitova to begin the defence of her title, which she won in a tournament full of surprises. T
The 22-year-old from the Czech Republic was a relative unknown here last year despite being eighth in the rankings, but eased through the draw to reach her first, and to date only, Grand Slam singles final. Former champion Maria Sharapova started that match as the favourite, but had no answer to Kvitova, who was a 6-3, 6-4 winner.
In the men’s draw, Rafael Nadal will be looking to build on his excellent performance at the recent French Open and regain the title he lost to Novak Djokovic last year. The Spaniard beat the likes of Juan Martin del Potro, Mardy Fish and Andy Murray on his way to the final, but came off second best to Djokovic, who won the title for the first time. Continues on BBC2
Movie Pick: Mad Max 2, ITV4, 9pm
It’s slim enough pickings on terrestrial TV tonight, so you could always check out what’s on offer on UPC’s new On Demand service, which includes the RTE Player, 3Player and a host of boxsets and other shows, free to all UPC customers.
If you absolutely have to stick to the schedules, then the first sequel of Mad Max could do the trick. Mel Gibson plays a former cop haunted by his tragic past roams the wasteland of Australia in the aftermath of a nuclear war. He arrives at a besieged settlement and grudgingly helps protect the residents from a horde of marauding bikers who want to get hold of their valuable supply of petrol. Futuristic adventure sequel, starring Gibson, Bruce Spence, Vernon Wells, Emil Minty and Kjell Nilsson.
