Today on TV we recommend the first match from Arsenal’s pre-season tour of Asia, while Jim Carrey gets a lot more zany than usual as The Riddler on ITV2.

Main Event: Truckers, RTÉ One, 8.30pm

Daithi O Se narrates a look at the lives of Irish truck drivers in another installment of this curiously interesting series from RTE.

Sport Pick: Live Football Friendly – Malaysia XI v Arsenal, ESPN, 1.45pm

All the action from the pre-season friendly at the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil, Kuala Lumpur, as Arsenal’s pre-season tour of Asia begins. Fans will be hoping for their first look at new signings Oliver Giroud and Lukas Podolski in an Arsenal shirt.

Movie Pick: Batman Forever, ITV2, 10pm

Love Christopher Nolan’s take on The Dark Knight? Then you’ll probably get a giggle from Joel Schumacher’s over-the-top version of Batman in this 1990s blockbuster.

The masked crimefighter takes on the twin threats of disfigured maniac Two-Face and insane genius the Riddler, who are plotting to control the brains of the entire world. Meanwhile, an acrobat whose family has been murdered by Two-Face steps up to join Batman in his fight against evil. Superhero adventure sequel, starring Val Kilmer, Tommy Lee Jones, Nicole Kidman, Jim Carrey and Chris O’Donnell

UPC On Demand Pick: War Horse

There aren’t many options on terrestrial TV tonight, so we recommend you try out UPC’s new On Demand service if you want to continue watching top class entertainment, as the service includes the RTE Player, 3Player and a host of boxsets and other shows, free to all UPC customers.

You’ll laugh, you’ll cry and you’ll want to pet a horse after seeing this spectacularly well made tearjerker from the master of cinema, Steven Spielberg.
