He may well try the patented ‘It’s my first day’ excuse, but after being heard to utter ‘fu**ing sh*t’ on live TV, chances are this guy won’t be on the air again anytime soon.
Everyone suffers from nerves on their first day in a new job, even more so when the job involves reporting the news on live television in front of a sizable audience.
Nobody expects the new guy or gal to be perfect right away, but nobody expects their first words on live television to be ‘fu**king sh*t’ either, regardless of whether they thought the microphone hadn’t been switched on or not.
That’s exactly what happened to poor A.J. Clemente on his first day at the anchor desk for KFYR, a news station in North Dakota, when he was clearly heard to say ‘Fu**ing Sh*t at the start of the broadcast and then sheepishly tried to introduce himself to the television audience after both he and his co-anchor realised that his profanities had gone live to the many thousands probably tuning it at the time.
The likelihood is that viewers can ignore Clemente’s incredibly and understandably nervous few words about himself because he’ll probably get the chop after this, but he should perhaps take encouragement in the fact that there have been news anchors who have been caught swearing on air and have recovered in the past.
Ain’t that right Ron?
