They are taking on Sky Sports and if their ad is anything to go by, BT Sport mean business.
Quite a few have tried, and failed, to take on Sky Sports in the race for the sport fan's hard-earned moolah. Setanta tried and failed and ESPN gave in February when they sold out to BT.
This week the new player in the game announced its big deal with the UFC and now they have rolled out a slick new ad to show us what to expect when they began to broadcast the Premier League on BT Sport next season.
With former BBC man Jake Humphrey the face of the channel, this ad features lots of big names including RVP, Gareth Bale and Joe Hart. We especially like the moment Maroune Fellaini joins in a rugby lineout too.
Lots of other big names pop up as well, like Rio Ferdinand and it is just the sort of ad you would expect Sky to produce, which is the highest praise we can think of.
For us Irish-based sports fans the picture is still unclear. We are not sure if our existing ESPN channels will just automatically switch to BT Sport, or if Sky or UPC will carry it on their services either. Hopefully we will get some answers soon, because if there is football on, we want to be able to see it.
