Send a raven.
Being that we’re absolute geeks maesters on all things Game of Thrones, we’ve decided to do a weekly recap of the best moments from the most recent episode.
Season 5 returned to our screens in a flurry of ice, fire, swords, dragons, slit throats, naked bodies, one liners and weird funerals.
How we missed it.
Spoiler alert, but here’s some of our favourite moments.
Master of Quotes – Best Line
Tyrion: “Compassion? Yes, I killed my lover with my bare hands. I shot my own father with a crossbow.”
Varys: “I never said you were perfect.”
The North Remembers – Best Scene
Jon Snow begs and pleads with Mance Rayder to bend the knee to Stannis in order to secure peace beyond the wall and prevent his execution.
Being that Ciaran Hinds is a legend, he refuses to do so. Don’t worry though because things always work out for people with honour and integrity in this show. Right?
Best line from the first episode of #GameofThrones season 5: “The freedom to make my own mistakes is all I ever wanted” – Mance Rayder.

Valar Morghulis – Best Death
See above. In Mance’s own words, burning alive is a horrible way to die but his final remarks to Stannis were so bad-ass.
Jon Snow ultimately proves what a decent bloke he is by firing an arrow into the heart of his former kidnapper. This sentence could only make sense in the wonderful world of Westeros.

GoT X-Rated
Margaery Tyrell walks in on her brother Loras being intimate with another man and it’s not a bother to anyone in the room.
They must do things differently in Highgarden.
That smirk though.
I think @Margaery_Tyrell & I need to work out some sort of system for private time. I’ll put a sock on the door in future! #GameofThrones — Loras Tyrell (@Ser_Loras) April 13, 2015
Mother of Dragons – Best Beast Scene
How would your pets react if you ignored them for months on end and only returned to them because your lover told you to do so?
We imagine there would be less brimstone and fire though.
Daenerys Targaryen, terrible pet owner

Sticks and Stones and Swords – Best Insult
“Tyrion may be a monster, but at least he killed our father on purpose. You killed him by mistake with stupidity.”
-Cersei to Jamie
You Know Nothing – The WTF Moment
The show’s very first flashback moment involving a very young Cersei Lannister. Was anyone else reminded of that moment in Sleepy Hollow and Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves when the witch appeared?

Stealing The Throne – This Week’s Best Character
Mance Rayder by a mile. Ciaran Hinds may not be a show regular but his calm, authoritative and commanding performance just jumped off the screen.
He also got one of the best deaths in Game of Thrones’ history.
From Wicklow to Westeros – Where did Aiden Gillen’s Irish accent land?
Slightly in the realm of the Cornish region of England, you know the farmer types that say phrases like ‘ohh-arr’?
Also, what was Aiden Gillen’s chosen accent in this episode? Seemed like a mix of Irish, RP and Cornish! #GameOfThrones
