Matt Damon is on the run once more in The Adjustment Bureau
JOE presents The Trailer Park, a place to check out trailers of films coming to a cinema near you sometime soon.
How has Hollywood not run out of Phillip K. Dick adaptations yet? Not that we're complaining, the deceased novelist's work has graced us with sci-fi classics such as Blade Runner, Total Recall, Minority Report and ahem, Paycheck, starring Ben Affleck. Based on Dick's 1954 short story 'Adjustment Team', The Adjustment Bureau is a forthcoming sci-fi romance that gives star Matt Damon of Bourne and Green Zone fame the chance to do exactly what he does best - running away from shadowy forces with reckless abandon.
Damon stars as David Norris, a US Congressman seemingly destined for national stardom, that meets a beautiful ballet dancer, Elise, played by the ever-reliable Emily Blunt. Damon soon discovers that dark forces appear to be conspiring to keep the two from becoming romantically involved, and endeavours to discover why.
The trailer for Adjustment is embedded below and promises suspense, mystery, and plenty of the familiar sight of Damon running his little legs off. We're most excited about the prospect of Mad Men's John Slattery being a formidable figure behind the shadowy 'Bureau' too, so let's hope he gets a little more screen time than he did in this summer's Iron Man 2. Sadly, this promising sci-fi flick has been delayed until March 2011, but don't forget where you seen it first. Em, unless it wasn't on JOE.ie, obviously.
What else do you need to know about a movie with a title like Hobo With a Shotgun? In fairness, quite a lot. Rutger Hauer stars as the titluar pissed-off homeless man on a rampage for this forthcoming no-budget actioner and we must stress that the below trailer is NSFW, as it's filled with violent and gruesome scenes.
Interestingly enough, Hobo With a Shotgun began life as an entry for a SXSW contest for the Tarantino/Rodriguez collaboration Grindhouse, which feature dplenty of bad-taste exploitation trailers for fake movies in its double feature of Planet Terror and Deathproof. One of those trailers, Machete, is already getting the cinematric treatment, and it looks like Hobo is receiving the same. Unlike Machete, however, Hobo certainly doesn't look to be played for laughs. Have a look for yourself below, though again we must point out that it's not for the squeamish.
Finally, if you love incredibly wooden actors ('Paul Walker, meet Hayden Christensen'), hip hop stars-turned actors (Chris Brown, T.I) and heist movies, then you'll love Takers, which topped the US box office last week amid mixed reviews. To be fair to the project, writer and director John Luessenhop has managed to attract some bona-fide acting talent in the shape of Matt Dillon and Zoe Saldana. If you're dying for a slightly brainless but enjoyable heist flick, Takers looks to be exactly that. US critics, though somewhat cool in their reception to the crime action film, have been nearly unanimous in their praise for Takers' set pieces. We can judge for ourselves on the film's October 1 release.
