Following yesterday's surprise confirmation of GTA V and next week's debut trailer, the web has been abuzz about the possible location of the game. However, it's likely to be Los Angeles.
Considering that the satirical elements of the Grand Theft Auto are typically focused on US culture, the series has only ever diverted from the States for two mission packs in the mid-1990s, London 1961 and London 1969.
Also, considering that the US locations which the game models are usually urban area with coastal features, it's unsurprising that the three locations of the previous console generation were modelled after New York (Liberty City - GTA 3, GTA IV), Miami (Vice City) and Los Angeles (San Andreas).
This time around, industry sources have told gaming site Kotaku that the series will return to Los Angeles, though it is unclear whether or not it will once again be renamed San Andreas.
According to the site, the game will be set "in some version of LA" and will feature more than just one playable character for the first time in the series. Rockstar Games have plenty of experience in recreating LA, not least from the racing title Midnight Club and a recent release which they published, LA Noire.
Where would you like to see GTA V take you? Here in JOE office we're fond of perhaps Rio de Janeiro, Paris or maybe even Portmarnock.
