All the fun replaced by so much indifference.
Most people loved it, but even if it didn’t float your boat, it’s hard to overlook the fact that Friends had more of an impact on popular culture than perhaps any sitcom in the last 20 years.
Numerous pretenders have attempted to recreate the format since without quite nailing it and there will probably come a day when some Hollywood type merely repeats the exact same formula albeit with a modern twist.
The folks at Nerdist have imagined what Friends would look like if it was filmed in 2015 and Ross, Rachel and company were replaced by a bunch of ultra-cool hipsters.
It actually hits upon a quite painful truth by focusing on our complete obsession with smartphones in modern society.
It also, however, paints a scene that you’re likely to see in one of the many hipster cafés that have sprung up in Ireland in recent years, cafés like the ones referenced in this excellent piece by our own Tony Cuddihy.
Have a look if you want a laugh anyway. Or not, whatever…
