Although they’re absolutely huge in Ireland now, Under Armour were arguably first known on these shores for their base layer products.
So much so, in fact, that any sort of base layer clothing is still often wrongly referred to as Under Armour, particularly in GAA circles.
Having specialised in it for years and years, Under Armour know a toasty base layer and at this time of year, you can’t go wrong with their ColdGear® long-sleeved top, which will keep you warm without feeling bulky at the same time.
Some people wrongly assume that compression shorts are a little tight and restrictive for, you know, that area down there.
In fact, they allow great freedom of movement and provide that extra bit of reassurance for those who have experienced muscle problems in the hip, groin and hamstring areas.
Just remember to wear another pair of shorts over them; you don’t want to go putting too much on display.
Looking good is not the main priority when buying base layer products, especially considering that you’ll more often than not be wearing something over them. We can’t help but be impressed by this kit all the same.
It’ll do everything your average cold weather base layer top will do but it’s so striking that it would almost be worth a little shivering so you could wear it on its own and show it off in public.
Want.
If you’re looking for really specialist stuff when it comes to base layer and compression products, then you’ll want to check out what Skins have to offer.
By all means, wear these compression long tights while you’re out for a run or working out, but keep them on for a while afterwards as well, because the compression technology will help deliver oxygen to your muscles and speed up the recovery process.
Torn between whether to wear a t-shirt or a jacket out running? Compromise and wear what is almost a cross between the two, a Columbia half-zip top that includes all-important thumb holes that the part and keep your hands warm too.
