PSG pull out of Tevez deal after "beautiful offer"
After trying and failing to signing Alexandre Pato and David Beckham in the current transfer window, PSG appear to have given up in their search for unsettled striker Carlos Tevez.
The Qatari-rich club's official stance over a possible signature for the Argentine is that they will not be held to ransom by Tevez's advisors. As such, sporting director Leonardo emphatically stated to the French press today that a move looks unlikely.
"We have stopped negotiations [for Tevez]. At present the market isn't moving much," Leonardo told L'Equipe.
"There was an opportunity, we studied it, we made a beautiful offer, but did not manage to agree. We are not going to exaggerate [overspend] in our offers. So we have stopped. It's over."
Two weeks ago the Ligue 1 leaders appeared to have tied up a €35 million deal for AC Milan's Alexandre Pato, with Tevez joined the Serie A leaders after the club planned to cash in, yet the Pato deal was scuppered at the last minute by AC Milan president Silvio Berlusconi.
On the plus side for PSG, the French side are moving closer to completing deals for Chelsea's transfer-listed defender Alex and Inter Milan central midfielder Thiago Motta. With AC Milan looking to conclude a deal for striker Maxi Lopez, however, Tevez's options now look decidedly limited.
