Zlatan Ibrahimovic continues to dig in his heels over PSG move
Wondering why Paris Saint-Germain's mega signing of AC Milan's Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Thiago Silva still hasn't gone through two days after the Serie A side accepted the deal? Blame the Swede.
Milan are likely to receive just over £50 million in transfer fees for both players as PSG sporting director and former Milan boss Leonardo seeks to take every single promising Serie A player this summer, having already signed Napoli's Ezequiel Lavezzi and with a deal for Pescara's Marco Veratti's looming.
The cash-strapped Serie A giants have made no attempts to resist the move due to each player's high wages, with club president Silvio Berlusconi announcing on Thursday: ""Yes, I have sold Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Thiago Silva to PSG. We'll save €150 million in two years."
However, Zlatan is reportedly none too happy about heading to an inferior European league and knowing that the ball is in his court, has been making contract demands that if accepted, could make him the second-best-paid player behind Anzhi's Samuel Eto'o. The player's agent today confirmed that negotiations were still at an impasse.
"There is still no agreement," Mino Raiola told French news agency AFP. "We continue to work and when everything is settled, we will give a press conference."
A day previous, Raiola had ominously said that he and his client "are far away or, to put it better, we are as close (to agreeing terms) as America and China."
If Gazetta dello Sport's Tancredi Palmeri is to believed, rival Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport is reporting tonight that an aghast Ibrahimovic actually rang AC Milan management to ask: "Seriously, you have no money anymore? Should I sign you a cheque?"
