After David Beckham confirmed his retirement from professional football this afternoon, we decided to take a look back at some of the best moments from a hugely eventful career.

Having reached the grand old age of 38 earlier this month, Becks has decided to follow in the footsteps of his old Manchester United teammate Paul Scholes and call time on a career that included spells with United, Real Madrid, AC Milan, Paris St. Germain and LA Galaxy.

Critics of the man known as Goldenballs will say that he became more of a celebrity than a footballer in the latter stages of his career, but that would be a tad harsh on a man who once finished as runner-up for the Ballon D’or to Rivaldo, played for some of the best clubs of the world, who played for his country over 100 times and came across as a genuinely nice bloke.
