Arsenal have announced that fans who witnessed yesterday’s 8-2 mauling by Manchester United first hand will be entitled to a free ticket to another away game.
Gooners who made the trip from North London to Manchester had to endure the humiliating experience of seeing their lightweight outfit taken to the cleaners by the champions, who along with bitter rivals Manchester City, have started the Premier League season in devastating form.
As a gesture to compensate those who attended the game for what must have been a nightmarish couple of hours, the club have announced that they will be entitled to a free match ticket to another away game in recognition of their ‘fantastic support’.
A statement was released on the club’s website this afternoon which read: "Sunday's result was obviously disappointing for everyone connected with the club. Our travelling fans were magnificent throughout and we want to recognise their fantastic support. We will be writing to them shortly with the details."
Arsenal fans entitled to the free ticket will be hoping that the gesture turns out to be a once-off and that the club don’t feel the need to reciprocate it again this season.
