Chelsea edge closer to Porto’s incredible Hulk
He may not be green and he doesn’t have a penchant for purple shorts yet Chelsea have apparently decided that Brazilian striker Hulk is their ideal replacement for Didier Drogba.
With the now-legendary Ivorian’s time at the Blues coming to an end, Chelsea are left with the need to replenish their strike force, particularly since news emerged this week that Salomon Kalou’s contract at the club will be allowed to expire.
While Fernando Torres has been give assurances that he will lead the line and attempt to repay his £50 million transfer fee, the agent of 25-year-old striker Hulk – who hit a brace for his country in a 3-1 defeat of Denmark today – has said that interest in his client is growing outside of Stamford Bridge.
“There hasn’t been an official proposal so far. There has been a lot of interest in him, but it has yet to go further than that,” said agent Teodoro Fonseca.
“All that should change next week. Besides Chelsea, there are four more English clubs interested in him.
“Porto will not let him go easily. His release clause is €100 million, but ultimately it is the player’s wish to take on another challenge that will make the difference.
“Those are the words of Porto’s directors. They have said as much, and will not stand in his way, so though it will not be easy for those English clubs financially, there is room for negotiation. We can sort everything out, I am sure.”
