He is now commonly known as “Fat Ronaldo” but Ronaldo Luís Nazário de Lima is now taking part in a Brazilian TV show to lose weight and be known as the “original” Ronaldo.

After playing for PSV, Barcelona, Real Madrid, Inter and AC Milan, winning two World Cups and having the all-time record for most goals scored in World Cup tournaments, you’d think Brazil’s Ronaldo would be talked about with more dignity.

But, alas, no. Ronaldo aged 36, once known as El Fenomeno, is now known as El Fatty since even before his retirement in 2011.

The man who once scored 47 league goals for Barca in one season, also plays second fiddle to his Portugese namesake.

At his lightest Ronaldo was a muscular 12stone dynamo, these days he’s a hefty 18 and half stone and probably has to wear a special Moo Moo as per Homer Simpson below:

In fairness he has been quite successful since retiring, opening his own sports agency and representing, amongst others, UFC pound-for-pound king Anderson Silva.

That’s all going to change now hopefully as he’s now setting his sights on the goal of getting himself back into shape so he can play a charity match with former teammate and fellow legend, the still svelte, Zinedine Zidane.

His endeavours will be documented by a Brazilian TV show Medida Certa, a clip of which you can see below:

In the meantime here’s some clips of Ronnie in his pomp (Kids if you’ve never seen the Original Ronaldo check it out, you’re in for a treat.)
