Is Kaka really going to become a Manchester United player?

Are Manchester United about to bring a former World Player of the Year to the Premier League? We’re not so sure.

A lack of midfield creativity was the big stick that was used to beat Manchester United last season. Hell, they even resurrected Paul Scholes to try and liven things up and while the 37-year-old’s passing and vision was as good as ever, his legs were not and reinforcements were required.

In came Shinji Kagawa from Germany this summer and with RVP now in United red, Wayne Rooney may be free to drop deep to help out too.

However, rumours emanating from Spain suggest that another highly skilled player may be calling Old Trafford his home soon.

Do you remember Kaka? The World Cup winning Brazilian was a hero at AC Milan but his time at Real Madrid has been a bit of a damp squib, despite playing a bit more regularly last term. When your biggest achievement in the last few years has been becoming the first sportsperson to reach 10million followers on Twitter, perhaps it is time for a change.

And now, with Luka Modric also Bernabeu bound, Kaka is definitely surplus to requirements for Jose Mourinho. All today’s papers go big on the link between Kaka and Manchester United but a careful reading of all the stories just says that the Brazilian was ‘offered’ to United.

In a bid to get his massive wages off their books we suspect that Kaka has been ‘offered’ to everybody. United may appeal to Kaka, and Fergie is fond of taking a punt, but the injury prone 30-year-old was never the most robust of players, so he could find adjusting to the Premier League hard.

AC Milan are also mentioned in the reports and a return to his former home, on loan, seems more likely. Kaka was a superb player a few years ago and at just 30, he is far from past it. It would be a great boost to the Premier League to have a global star like Kaka playing in England but we wouldn’t be buying the replica United shirts with ‘I Belong To Fergie’ on them just yet.
