Is Roy Keane about to get back into management?
According to reports today the Cork man is about to get back into the game as the boss of Millwall.
Today’s Daily Star reports that the London club are thinking of giving current boss Kenny Jackett the boot and they have selected Keano as the man to drag them up the table.
The rumour that the Lions would employ Keane has been floating around for a while but Millwall’s 2-1 defeat to fierce rivals West Ham yesterday has put increased pressure on Jackett and shortened the odds on a vacancy appearing at the New Den.
Leeds are also in the market for a new boss after firing Siman Grayson this week but the fierce rivalry between Manchester United and the Elland Road side may be a barrier to that move.
It is now 13 months since Keane exited Ipswich and he is reported to be anxious to get back in the game as soon as possible.
The paper quotes Keane regarding his future.
“I’m not sitting by the phone waiting for a call but come a Saturday, I’m still not myself when I’m not working,” he said. “I’ve had an offer – but I know if the right call does come in I’ll be ready.”
Much as we enjoy watching Keane fight the urge to punch Adrian Chiles on ITV, the footballing world is a more interesting place with Keane in it so we hope he gets back in somewhere soon.
