There were joyous scenes in Wales tonight as Cardiff City celebrated promotion to the Premier League for the first time.
By Declan Whooley
Fifty-three years since the club last got promoted to the top-flight, the Welsh club will celebrate finally reaching the promised land after so many near misses in recent years.
The Championship leaders were held to a 0-0 draw by Charlton, but defeat for Watford was enough to see the Welsh outfit promoted.

Cardiff have been top of the table since November and tonight’s match at the Cardiff City stadium was a sell-out 26,000 and First Minister Carwyn Jones was quick to praise the local heroes.
"The club and its supporters have been through some testing times in recent years but this season Malky and the team have done a great job of keeping their heads and getting results and with this promotion, they have made the city truly proud."
They will hope to settle into their new surroundings every bit as well as Swansea and fly the Welsh flag with pride.
