Mancini unhappy with transfer policy and says United are League favourites
Roberto Mancini has publically announced his frustration with the boardroom of Man City over transfer policy ahead of their Community Shield match against Chelsea tomorrow.
Mancini seems to have been in grumpy mood over the past few days, frustrated with his Sporting Director Brian Marwood’s inability to get out the chequebook and push through transfer deals.
Man City haven’t loosened the strings on their considerable purse to purchase one player of note this summer, while at the same time players like Roque Santa Cruz and Emmanuel Adebeyor remain on their books.
The Star has even suggested that Mancini threatened to walk due to plans to sell controversial striker Mario Balotelli to PSG by the board of Man City.
When asked in separate questions about his interest in Daniel Agger, Daniele De Rossi and Eden Hazard, Mancini replied with curt responses like "You can ask Brian this" and "Talk with Marwood, please,"
The Italian boss also conceded that he was "not happy" with Marwood’s role in transfer policy.
During the week Mancini conceded that Robin Van Persie was a United or Arsenal player.
Mancini has also said that Chelsea will be stronger this year with their signings of Hazard, Marin and Oscar while saying Man United are favourites to win the title.
"United start as favourites this year," said Mancini, "we are maybe in second, third or fourth position."
This may be slightly ominous Mancini was similarly frustrated by City’s transfer policy last summer prior to their title-winning season.
