Pic: Guess who's back starting for Man United?
Man United versus Newcastle United is the pick of the Carling Cup matches tonight, but what’s more important is Darren Fletcher is back playing (and captaining) for Man United.
The 28-year old Scottish international has played a few minutes against Galatasaray in the Champions League but he’s starting tonight and also captaining his side against Newcastle.
The Scottish international hadn’t started a competitive football match for ten months, since taking an extended break from football following medical advice about his ongoing ulcerative colitis which threatened his football career.
Fletcher is one of the few Man United players that is liked by opposing fans and it’s good to see him back and playing ball.
Here he is with captain’s armband:

On another note check out Michael Keane, the promising young centre back who used to play for Ireland underage but now plays for England who also starts tonight and think what could have been....As Fergie might say “the boy has talent.”
Also Robbie Brady, who is on standby in Trap’s latest Ireland squad, is on the bench and could make an appearance against a Newcastle side that welcome back Tiote and Coloccini to their starting line-up.
