Francisco Sandaza could be in for a difficult few weeks after admitting to joining Rangers for the money and looking to leave the club after being conned by a Celtic fan.
By Declan Whooley
In case you are not entirely up-to-speed with the goings on in the Scottish Third Division, Spanish striker Sandaza was signed from St. Johnstone at the start of the season and has scored two league goals in 11 appearances.
However he is unlikely to endear himself to the Ibrox crowd after admitting to joining the Gers for the money, while conceding that he would like to leave the Scottish giants as quickly as possible.
Sandaza took a phone call from ‘Jack McGonigle’, who claimed to be an MLS agent based in LA. Jack was in fact a Glaswegian taxi-driver called Tommy who is hardcore Celtic fan.
The clip goes on for more than 20 minutes, and the jist of it is that he came for the money and would jump at the chance to leave. Considering the level Rangers are playing at, we wouldn’t really expect him to say anything else.
“I didn’t sign for the level, I signed for the money. I’ll get another contract after Rangers,” he said.
When asked about a move to the MLS, the striker was keen to make sure the club are unaware of any interest.
“Do not do it officially through the club. Send me the contract first. I don’t want trouble if Rangers find out about this,” he added.
Here is the clip in its entirety, and we wish him all the best when he encounters ‘Gers supporters around Glasgow.
