If anyone was in any doubt about the significance of next week’s friendly against England, just how look how eager Robbie Keane is to play.
The Irish captain was originally ruled out of the friendly against the auld enemy next week and against Georgia four days later because of club games against the Seattle Sounders and the New England Revolution over the next couple of weeks.
Robbie wasn’t having that, however, and despite some high profile absentees on the England side – Steven Gerrard and eh, Andy Carroll – he is determined to play a part at Wembley and has managed to convince the Galaxy to allow him to make what will be his 124th appearance for the Boys in Green.
Commenting on the Galaxy’s change of heart, Keane said: "I would like to thank LA Galaxy for reconsidering their decision after further conversations between us which really means a lot to me.
“We have reached an agreement that will enable me to make it to the games and I look forward to playing my part".
It might be a friendly in name, but if Robbie’s actions are anything to go by it’s obviously more than just an average game for plenty of those involved.
Bring it on.
